As you may have heard, The Evolution Band have made it through as the 6th and final band into the final of the Unsigned Band Competition on Premier Christian Radio Show - Loretta Fenton Presents...now it all comes down to the judges. Tune in at 6pm on Saturday evening to find out how we get on!

Gareth Russell, MD of Authentic Media will be selecting an overall winner from the finalists as well as giving valuable feedback to all the ther artists. The winner will then be invited on to the show and perform live in the studio and they’ll receive some great free publicity by being profiled on the Premier website and our MySpace Page for a whole month

Carnival!

This Sunday (6th July) we join up with the Saffron Walden Carnival to host a very special Youth Celebration Service in the town.

The Evolution Band (recent Battle of the Bands Finalists!) will provide the music with the service led by acclaimed magician, cabaret artist and Guiness World Record Holder for escapology Steve Legg

The service takes place at Saffron Walden Baptist Church starting at 10am and is absolutely free for all!

Final Approaching

This Friday (27th June) - sees the final of the Saffron Walden Battle of the Bands Competition.

The compeititon will be fierce with 5 bands all hoping to win the public vote.

The Evolution Band were winners of Heat 1 and will be up against Super Casino, Tzar, Stick Finger Orchestra and Roland.

There will also be an opening set by The Tymes

Entry is £5 and doors open at 7:30pm

Premier Radio Unsigned Band Comp - Vote for Evolution

Starting this Saturday 7th June a new show on Premier Christian Radio - Loretta Fenton Presents will showcase unsigned talent.

The Evolution Band have won a place in the competition and will have a track featured on the show one week along with another artist.

Following this the public will have the chance to vote for their favourite. The overall winner of the compeition has the chance to perform live on the show.

Please look out for us on the show - broadcast across a range of media on Saturday evenings 6-7pm.

Despite some very strong competition from 3 great bands The Evolution Band won the public vote hands down and will now take part in the FINAL on Friday 27th June at the Town Hall.

FF2008 and Battle Time!

The Evolution Band performed at this years Firm Foundations Festival on Saturday and despite a dissapointing turnout audience wise, were sounding great. The Band were featured beforehand on FF Radio but matters were not helped by having to delay the start of the set and by the poor planning of the organising committee - putting on bands on both the Big Top and V2 stage at the same time. However...we'll be back.

On a more positive note, the band have been offered a place in the first heat of this years Saffron Walden Battle of the Bands Competition. The band will be performing a 20 minute set of their own material next Tuesday (3rd June) at Saffron Walden Town Hall. Entry is £4.50 and doors open at 7:30pm, please come along and support.

Hi Everyone

A lot has been happening since we last wrote!

As well as confirming our appearance at this years Firm Foundations Festival in a couple of weeks time (Saturday 24th May, 2pm V2 stage). We can also announce an invitation to appear at the Saffron Walden Carnival Worship Service on Sunday 6th July.

The new EP is now complete, artwork finalised and copies being burned as we speak - pre-order yours now by email (evo_sales@hotmail.co.uk)

Gig Annoucement

The Evolution Band are pleased to announce they have been invited to appear at this years Firm Foundations Festival at Felden Lodge, Hemel Hempstead over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

The band will be playing on Saturday afternoon (2pm) on the V2 stage and will be performing tracks from their new EP 'A Better Life Basis' along with other new tracks and some old favourites.

Tickets for the weekend or the day are still available from the Firm Foundations Website but hurry!

It's done,

After 3 very long days and 2 very late nights the band have put the finishing edits to their first professional recording.

In the Studio!

Hi everyone

It's been a while but the band have been busy and this coming weekend (29th/30th March) Evolution are decamping to Monkey Puzzle House recording studio in Suffolk.

The band will be recording four new songs written by themselves over the course of the weekend; Amazing Love, Your Aching Heart, Inside Out and I'll Still Sing.

The tracks will be used as a demo CD, copies of which will also be available for purchase at a future date on a mini album/EP (watch this space!)

The band will be using the demo CD to help secure appearances at local clubs and pubs as well as a number of christian festivals over the coming months.

Please check back over the weekend for updates on the band's progress.

Well, it's been a while...but we're back!

Evolution are pleased to announce a forthcoming gig to showcase their new lineup and new material at Henham Village Hall on Saturday 29th December 7PM - celebrate the festive season the Evolution way.

Over the recent months the band have revamped their repertoire with a number of their own compositions as well as the old favourites. They are now back in the 'studio' practising hard and have recently welcomed another new addition to the band - Matt Rowlands on bass.

In Concert Again!

The Evolution Band will be performing again on Sunday 24th June at Saffron Walden Baptist Church. They will be leading the morning service which will also feature ministry from Steve Murray of Behold Mime Ministry.
The service is a Parade service for Unirform Organisations from the Church but is open to all. It starts as always at 10:30am

In addition, our congratulations and best wishes go to Helen Gardiner (one of our vocalists) on the birth of her second son Jacob last week. Mum, baby and family all doing well.

CT Fun Day - Sat June 2nd

I can now confirm the Evolution Band will be playing a special free concert on Saturday June 2nd at the Baptist Church, Saffron Walden, starting at 7pm.

The concert is the climax to the Saffron Walden Churches Together Fun Day taking place throughout the day on SW Common.

The Fun Day consists of a host of activities including 5-side football competition, dance mat competition, face painting, inflatables, and refreshments.

First of all, apologies all for the long delay in updating the blog. It's been a fairly quiet time for the band recently since the concert in January.
Anyhow, we can now finally confirm that the Evolution Band will be headlining the very special (and free) Saffron Walden Churches Together Fun Day on the town common on Saturday 2nd June.

What a night!

Wow,

Saturday was quite something.
First off, a big thanks to Crucial Fix who provided splendid support on Saturday evening, we hope they enjoyed the concert as much as we all did. They went down a storm with the crowd of some 150+

So, the Evolution Band played a storming set running through their usual song list and with great audience participation. Particular highlights were Consuming Fire and Over the Mountains & the Sea during which Andrew gave a short message on the passage John 3:16 from the Bible.

We hope everyone enjoyed the evening as much as we all did, watch this site for photos and further reaction over the next few days, until the next time....

The final call

Last night was the final practice before Saturdays concert and rest assured the band sounded on top, top form. The vocals especially have really come together and should be a real highlight.

The sound equipment will be delivered in a matter of hours and the finishing touches are being put to the setlist and visuals. Come 7:30pm tomorrow night we'll all be ready.

We are also looking forward to welcoming our support act Crucial Fix http://www.myspace.com/crucialfix123 to Saffron Walden.

Here's hoping for a good turnout, if your in the area, get yourselves down to the Baptist Church for some real next generation worship.

Last night was the penultimate practice for Saturday's gig. The band sounded spot on and there is a real buzz about the place.
Everyone's getting pretty excited and details are all falling nicely in to place.

The Evolution Band would like to announce the arrival of Joel Williams our new bass player, who has joined the band in recent weeks and will be appearing for the first time at the Evolution Concert next weekend. We would like to thank Anthony our previous bassist who has been with the band since its inception, and who is now studying at University in Warwick, all the best Ant.
In addition, we welcome John and Claire who also joined the band recently, and thank Stuart our previous drummer who is now studying at Guilford

Last night saw the final Evolution performance of 2006. The band played a short set at the second FUSE event at New Life Pentecostal Church in Saffron Walden to a small but enthusiastic audience.

It was the first appearance in the band for new vocalist Clare who joined Helen and Matt on the mics. In addition, the band opened the set with a version of Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody' and performed a cover of the recent Delirious? song 'Paint the Town Red' for the first time to finish (with ex-drummer Stuart Smith on guest vocals).

The band will now be practising hard for the next event on 13th Jan...more details of which will follow soon

'Fuse' Together

This Sunday (10th December), the Evolution Band will be appearing at the second 'Fuse' event at New Life Pentecostal Church, Shire Hill, Saffron Walden.

Fuse is a social and informal group for young people aged 14 and over with music, games and some thought-provoking discussions.

The evening starts at 8pm and 'Evolution' will be playing a 20 min set of well-known contemporary Christian worship songs.

Evolution are a Christian Worship Rock Band formed in mid-2005 by members of several churches in Saffron Walden. They play contemporary, well-known worship songs and their own work and have performed at many different events over the past year.
